Developer to start construction of Stockport project early next year
BDP has won approval for the 253-home Weir Mill regeneration scheme in Stockport for developer Capital & Centric.
The developer plans to restore and convert the Victorian mill buildings, which it claims inspired the art of Salford painter LS Lowry, into what is describes as a “vibrant town centre community”.
The £60m scheme, which is supported by £7m of Housing Infrastructure Fund cash from Homes England, will include a new 60,000 sq ft waterfront outdoor public space and 24,000 sq ft of shops and leisure facilities alongside the 253 homes.
The scheme is part of a £1bn regeneration plan for Stockport’s town centre being promoted by the council.
