UK architect acquires 30-strong masterplanning outfit to form BDP Khandekar
Architect Building Design Partnership (BDP) has acquired Dutch design practice Khandekar.
Newly formed company BDP Khandekar will operate from two offices in Holland with a 30-strong team. Its work includes masterplanning projects in Europe and India.
Tony McGuirk, chairman of BDP, said: “A 30-strong team of masterplanners adds significantly to our urban planning offer and gives the company a different flavour. Furthermore Khandekar's experience of dealing with problems in the Netherlands, such as flooding, could very usefully be applied to the UK and elsewhere.”
BDP said that it will develop an architecture studio in Holland under the leadership of former Khandekar director Shyam Khandekar and BDP's Murray Kerr, who is moving to Rotterdam.
Khandekar's past projects have included the Monnikenhuizen residential area in Arnhem and the regeneration of Osdorp centre, a suburb of Amsterdam.
