Today marks the second anniversary of the Battersea crane disaster, which killed two people

A morning vigil is being held at the site by the Battersea Crane Disaster Action Group, ahead of the official launch of the Strategic Forum’s Safe Crane Campaign. Liliana Alexa, the mother of Michael Alexa, a member of the public who was killed together with crane driver Jonathan Cloke, welcomed the campaign, but warned: “We will judge this by results – crane collapses and the injuries and deaths they cause must end now.” Following a spate of accidents, Building’s Safer Skyline campaign called for greater regulation of tower crane safety.
