Funds will allow new housing group to build 1,000 homes a year across the Midlands

Barclays bank has loaned Waterloo Housing Group £100m to allow the housing association to build 3,000 homes.

The debt finance was arranged following the creation of Waterloo 15 months ago from the merger of Eastern Shires Housing Group and Waterloo Housing Association. The association owns 17,500 homes predominantly in the counties of Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and the West Midlands.

David Pickering, group chief executive of Waterloo said he was delighted to have agreed the loan. “The facility will enable us to meet our target of providing around 1,000 new affordable homes per year across the entire Midlands region, with the group business plan now fully financed for growth over the next three years,” he said.
