Havant school is first contract to be awarded under the £4.5bn IESE framework
Contractor Bam has won a £20m contract to refurbish and extend a secondary school in Hampshire.
The contract, won through the Improvement and Efficiency South East framework, will see the builder construct two new buildings as well as refurbishing several others at Park Community School in Havant, Hampshire.
Bam Construction has so far been selected for preconstruction services for the £20m project.
The contractor said the project appointment is the first work through the refreshed IESE framework, with Bam was one of eight contractors selected last summer for the £4.5 billion four-year framework.
Subject to final planning approval, Bam hopes to start on site in summer 2012, with completion expected two years later to coincide with the new academic year.
Construction director Bob Sanders said: “It is very pleasing to have secured work already through the hugely important IESE framework. This demonstrates that BAM is providing viable solutions to local authorities during the challenging economic climate.”
