Contractor appointed to build three-storey building with “super-labs” near Weston-super-Mare
Bam Construction has been awarded a £12m contract to build an enterprise and technology college in North Somerset.
The 6,400m2 North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College will include a purpose-built floor dedicated to science, complete with “super-labs” and a terrace on which to conduct outdoor experiments.
Work on the three-storey campus near Weston-super-Mare is set to start in spring 2015 and complete in July 2016.
Principal of the North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College Karen Cornick said the school would be a “first of its kind” in a local enterprise area.
She added: “These state-of-the-art facilities will ensure we offer a cutting-edge educational experience for all our students, alongside the strong business links that are being forged.”
Nick Goff, regional director for Bam Construction, said he was “proud” his firm had won the contract
He added: “We’ve put in a huge effort into understanding the key drivers of the framework, including the management of the design process, our client’s aspirations and funding.”
