Bam Construction has won a £30m contract to provide new emergency and assessment facilities for NHS Ayrshire & Arran
The contract will also see the firm build a new Emergency Department at the University Hospital Ayr and provide two new Combined Assessment Units at the Ayr and Crosshouse university hospitals.
The contract forms part of the first and second phases of Ayrshire & Arran’s Building for Better Care programme (BfBC).
The new facilities will allow patients to get faster assessment by senior clinical staff upon arrival in hospital.
Doug Keillor, regional director of Bam Construction, said: “These facilities will provide improved healthcare for the local communities and Bam look forward to creating opportunities during the construction period for local suppliers and contractors.”
Work on the first phase of the BfBC project is due to start this month.
