Work is scheduled to start in 2010 on joint community hospital and civic centre development
Bam Construction has been chosen as the preferred bidder on a £15m joint community hospital and civic centre development in Selby, North Yorkshire.
Work is scheduled to start in spring 2010 and the project is due to be completed by the end of 2011.
James Wimpenny, Bam’s director in the north east, said: “Our role now is to finalise details of exactly how this project will be delivered. It’s a major undertaking, but we have the skills, experience and local knowledge to deliver this project on time, on budget and to the highest standard.”
The project, designed by Tangram Architects, is part of a growing trend for council facilities to sit alongside other community facilities.
The Corby Cube in Northamptonshire is currently under construction and will house council services under the same roof as arts and library facilities.
