Contractor Bam Construct has completed its £20m eco-hotel at Nottingham University called The Orchard Hotel.
The hotel, designed by RHWL Architects, features a high performance building envelope, green roofing, solar photovoltaic panels and energy efficient lighting, heating and ventilation systems.
The undulating timber canopy is designed to mitigate solar gain through the 155sqm glass roof light.
The project is on track to receive a BREEAM Excellent rating in recognition of its sustainability.
Ged Flanagan, construction director at Bam Construct, said: “Bam Construct with its professional team is proud to have worked with the University and De Vere to build The Orchard. We share The University of Nottingham’s commitment to buildings of the highest standards and are delighted that we delivered this new hotel to match this aspiration.”
