Construction on BREEAM Excellent-rated 200-bed hotel begins this month
Bam Construct has won a £20m contract to build an eco-hotel at the University of Nottingham.
The University’s council green-lighted the project this week after planning permission was secured earlier this year.
The hotel has been designed to BREEAM excellent standard and will feature several executive-style rooms, meeting and conferencing rooms – as well as a restaurant and bar.
Located opposite the East Midlands Conference Center, the 200-bed facility will also include accessible roof-top terraces and green roofs.
Solar photovoltaic panels and ground-sourced heat technology are also incorporated.
Steve Byrne, director of Bam Construction, said: “We’re naturally delighted to build for the University of Nottingham. They are a significant client and this is an impressive new building for the City.
“As with all our work, we’ll be bringing our first rate people and a first rate attitude. We’ll build it considerately and give priority to the local community, economy and environment.”
Construction on the project begins in July with completion scheduled for the end of 2012.
