Balfour Beatty has won two road contracts worth more than £300m

The firm’s joint venture with Mott MacDonald has been reappointed service provider for the £172m Highways Agency Area 4 contract in Kent and Sussex. This covers maintenance and improvement services on 126km of motorway, 324km of trunk roads, two tunnels and 850 structures across Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex. The new term will commence on 1 October 2009 and will run for five years, with an option to extend it by two.

Norfolk council has chosen Balfour Beatty for its £127m Norwich Northern Distributor Road contract.

This will be carried out by its Birse Civils division and construction is expected to start in 2012. It will take three years to complete.
