Colas Rail is also in the running for the London Overground appointment
Balfour Beatty, Carillion and Tube Lines have been shortlisted for the £90m rail maintenance contract for the East London Railway.
The winning bidder is expected to be announced in February next year and the line to open in 2010.
Colas Rail is also in the running for the seven-year London Overground appointment, which will involve maintenance, refurbishment, signalling and structures work on the six mile track.
A London Overground spokesman said: “We are looking for a contractor that can work with the employer as a team, to maintain the East London Railway in a safe and fully operable condition at an economic cost.”
Construction of the route, which will extend the East London Line to Dalston Junction in the north and Crystal Palace and West Croydon in the south, is being carried out by Balfour Beatty and Carillion.
