Canadian firm has turnover of £26m and over 300 staff
Balfour Beatty has bought Canadian professional services firm Halsall Group for C$53m (£33m) cash.
Halsall provides design and engineering services to the building market, with particular emphasis on sustainable design and restoration. It also provides structural engineering services to clients in the transportation market.
It has seven offices in Canada and over 300 staff, generating turnover of C$46m (£26m) in 2009.
Ian Tyler, chief executive of Balfour Beatty, said: “The acquisition of Halsall extends the geographic reach of Parsons Brinckerhoff, our professional services business, in Canada, which we believe is an attractive infrastructure market. Halsall will provide Parsons Brinckerhoff, and the wider Balfour Beatty Group, with a great platform to develop a successful Canadian business.”
