Group to provide engineering and construction services on ATCO Electric capital programme
Balfour Beatty has won a contract in Alberta, Canada, to work on ATCO Electric's capital programme, worth around C$700m (£370m).
As part of the alliance, the group will provide engineering, procurement and project management services in the design and construction of transmission lines and substations.
The infrastructure project will be carried out by professional and technical services arm Balfour Beatty Management and by Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions.
ATCO Electric's estimates suggest the contract value of the alliance will be about $C700m over the next five years.
Ian Tyler, chief executive of Balfour Beatty, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to play a major role in ATCO Electric's significant capital programme in Alberta.
“Our expertise and resources will supplement ATCO Electric's own capacity in meeting the electrical transmission needs of a region experiencing rapid growth.”
