Balfour's Mansell subsidiary is understood to have beaten Miller Construction to North West contract
Balfour Beatty is expected to be named preferred bidder for a £66m PFI deal to build fire stations in the North West.
An announcement on the deal is expected to be made soon, but it is understood that Balfour's Mansell subsidiary has beaten a consortium lead by Miller Construction in the two-horse race.
The project will involve building 16 fire stations and some other peripheral buildings. The stations will be across Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria. Some will be on exisiting sites and others will be on new sites.
The contract is one of around a dozen PFI deals being struck by emergency services over the next year.
