Firm will carry out half the contracting work on the £666m Eagle P3 commuter rail project
Balfour Beatty has got the go ahead for the £666m Eagle P3 commuter rail project in the Denver metropolitan area of the United States.
The contractor will be responsible for half of the engineering, procurement and construction contract and also holds a 33% stake in the 29-year operations and maintenance contract.
The first phase of the project should start on site on 26 August, with the second phase due to be let in 2011.
The multi-billion Eagle project includes a new 22.8 mile commuter rail line from Union Station to Denver International Airport; a new 11.2 mile commuter rail line from Union Station to Wheat Ridge; a two mile initial segment of the Northwest Rail Corridor and a new commuter rail maintenance facility.
