Gammon Construction to build 2.2km tunnel on West Island Line
A Hong Kong-based Balfour Beatty company has been awarded a £407m railway infrastructure contract.
Gammon Construction, in which Balfour Beatty has a 50% shareholding, was awarded the contract by MTR Corporation, in a joint venture with Nishimatsu Construction Co.
The development comprises the construction of Hong Kong University, railway stations and a 2.2km tunnel.
The work will form a prominent part of the West Island Line, which will extend the existing Island line by 2014.
