Construction company's management division sets up base to take advantage of increased investment in the region

Balfour Beatty has set up a new north-east base for its management division creating up to 100 jobs.

The company which is based in Wynard Park near Stockton-on-Tees, currently has 18 staff which it is looking to increase over the next few months.

Ian Basford, director of the north-east division of Balfour Beatty Management, said the increased investment in the region made it a key location.

“The north-east has quite a lot of business opportunities in the building sector. Around £4bm is to be spent in the industry over the next four years.”

Basford joined Balfour Beatty in April with the task of developing its north-east operations.

The new office will provide services for an area stretching from the Scottish border to the Humber. Balfour Beatty Management, which was set up three years ago, employs 300 people across the country and provides professional services to the construction industry including technical, cost and engineering advice.
