BAA has revealed plans to modernise Heathrow Terminal 3. The scheme will include the redevelopment of the forecourt and an extention to the south-east side of the terminal.
The forecourt work will add a four-lane drop-off area, a 40m deep pedestrianised plaza and kerbside check-in facilities.
The extension will include a glass atrium-style extension to provide 900m2 of extra check-in space and a new stairway.
Tony Douglas, BAA Heathrow’s chief executive, said: “This redevelopment is an important step towards transforming Heathrow into a modern gateway for the UK.” He added that the improvements should be completed by the end of 2007.
Mace is the construction manager and Foster + Partners, the architect for the project.
