Row was over unpaid fees

Listed architecture practice Aukett Fitzroy Robinson and engineering consultant IDA have reached an out-of-court settlement in their legal row over unpaid fees.

IDA took the architect to an arbitration court in Moscow in March claiming it was owed £350,000 for design work on a shelved tower scheme in southern Russia.

IDA had claimed it had not been paid for more than two years for work carried out on the 22-storey tower in the city of Krasnodar.

But in a joint statement the two firms said they had “amicably resolved” the dispute.

The statement said IDA had stood to lose a £250,000 advance payment it had received if it had gone on to lose the case.

The statement said: “IDA and Aukett Fitzroy Robinson have amicably resolved their respective financial claim and counterclaim over a commercial project in southern Russia that was put on hold by client Peresvet Region Kuban.

“Russia is a complicated market place and there are undoubtedly lessons to be learned from this case in the wider property services business. The parties confirm that this early resolution to the arbitration will enable them to continue to work together on future projects.”
