Ascot racecourse this week ruled out legal action against Laing O’Rourke over problems with its £185m grandstand refurbishment.

Peter Rogers, Stanhope’s director, arrived to help with the scheme’s sight line problems in November last year. After he called in the McArdle Group, Intelligent Engineering Solutions and Arup to carry out £10m of remedial work, it was anticipated that there would be a lawsuit.

However, following a report in Building last week stating Ascot was gearing up for a legal fight, an Ascot spokesman said: “There will be no legal action. Laing O’Rourke is in the clear.”
