Design uses modular parts easy for local builders to recreate from local materials

This primary school in Ghana, opening today, is a prototype for a roll out of new schools across the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) district, a 1,372 sq km area on the country's south-western tip.

The 120-pupil school was designed by Arup, with Davis Langdon handling project management and cost consulting, in collaboration with the charity Sabre.

Local builders should be able to recreate the concept using "Lego-like" parts made from local materials that can be assembled in various ways.
