Support services group Amec announced this week that it had bought French electrical installations group Javalet.

Amec said the acquisition of the firm, based in north-west France with net assets of £200,000 and 34 staff, was part of its strategy to expand its engineering and technical services business.

The acquisition follows three others made by Amec earlier in the year: electrical engineering company PK, IT management company Fast Maintenance Informatique and 49% of nuclear engineering business Game Nucléaire.

Amec, which employs about 40,000 people in 44 countries, has also been on the acquisition trail in other sectors. In July it bought US environmental consulting company Shapiro & Associates and NNC, a UK nuclear services business.
