French infrastructure company Colas buys AMEC's 50% interest in SPIE Raily Systems for an undisclosed sum
Amec has announced the sale of its 50% interest in SPIE Rail Systems to the French infrastructure company Colas for an undisclosed sum.
In December newly appointed chief executive Samir Brikho announced that AMEC intended to dispose of its built environment division along with specialist activities such as SPIE Rail Systems.
Brikho said that the disposal of businesses such as SPIE was a key objective of 2007. He said: “This is a good outcome for our rail business and I am confident that under new ownership it will have a positive future.”
“The disposal of our interest to Colas is consistent with my objective of finding strong purchasers with good prospects for all of the Built Environment businesses.”
The deal is expected to be completed on 2 April 2007.
AMEC will reveal more on its disposal plan when it announces its 2006 results on 14 March 2007.
