AERC will join Amec's 3000-strong Earth and Environmental division
project management and services company Amec has bought UK environmental consultancy Applied Environmental Research Centre.
AERC provides a range of environmental science, planning engineering and monitoring services for clients in the public and private sectors. AERC employs 45 scientists and engineers and generated revenues of £2.3m in the year ended 31 December 2006. Its net assets were £0.6m as of December 2006.
The purchase is part of Amec's strategy to expand its core business through acquisitions that bring complimentary skills and geographic expansion in markets the company think will offer growth opportunities.
AERC will join Amec's Earth amd Environmental division, which employs 3000 people across 100 locations, mainly in Canada and the USA but including the UK, Germany, Iraq and Afghanistan.
