Chief Executive of CITB in Northern Ireland looks to the future in his new role.
Allan McMullen, chief executive of the Construction Industry Training Board in Northern Ireland, has been elected President of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
McMullen, who has been chief executive of the CITBNI for 10 years, said that his three key objectives for his 12-month tenure were to empower members to promote the science and practice of building; to help members gain the competencies relevant to the needs of the industry worldwide, and to play a leading role in closing the national skills shortage through CIOB involvement in ConstructionSkills.
Underlying his forward thinking in his inauguration speech, McMullen said: “Our predecessors founded the Builders Society during the Industrial Revolution; now we find ourselves in the Information Age so our competencies must be relevant in that context. We must embrace change and we must be relevant.”
