The technical support provider will provide review and supervision services for a major Russian toll road
Consultant engineer Aecom has won a $23m contract for the public-private partnership concession of the new M11 motorway from Moscow to St Petersburg.
Aecom will act as technical expert on the project, providing design review and construction supervision services.
The new road will take the pressure off the M10 “Rossia” Highway, one of the busiest in Russia, and provide an alternative route from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
Steve Morriss, AECOM’s Europe chief executive, said the project was “an important, large-scale PPP road-building project for Russia”, adding: “We bring worldwide experience in creating infrastructure, and we are delighted to be part of the team.”
The first section of the motorway will be 27 miles long, and is expected to open three years after the start of construction, which has already begun.
