Project is part of the wider scheme to regnerate the cultural centre of downtown Los Angeles
Aecom has won the role to deliver a Frank Gehry-designed scheme in downtown Los Angeles.
It has been appointed by real estate giant Related as construction manager for the third phase of its Grand Avenue Project, The Grand. Spanning 209,000ft2, the scheme is the third part of the public-private partnership to revamp the cultural and civic core.
It includes a cinema, a 20-storey, 314-room Equinox Hotel and 39-storey tower housing 436 flats, as well as restaurants and retail outlets spread among a series of landscaped open terraces.
Work on site is due to start in the autumn and complete in 2021.
To date, Related has invested $240m (£172m) in the Grand Avenue Project with completed phases including new public and cultural space Grand Park; new luxury residential building The Emerson; and The Broad museum.
In 2016, the firm agreed to a joint venture partnership with Chinese investor CCCG Overseas Real Estate Pte. Ltd. (CORE), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Group Ltd to deliver the third phase in the development.
