Croydon council has ruled out the Croydon Gateway scheme proposed by Stanhope and Schroders and designed by Foster and Partners.
A statement released this week said it would go ahead with a compulsory purchase order for the land because it is convinced the town's interests would be better served by a scheme developed by Arrowcroft. The statement came as a surprise to those who have been watching the seven-year war over the gateway, as it had appeared earlier in the week that the council had dropped its opposition to Stanhope's proposals.
