Cambridge University has opened its £9.5m Faculty of Education building on the grounds of Homerton College. As designed by Building Design Partnership, the building revolves around a central street or social hub. On one side stands a curvy library supported on laminated timber arches and clad in timber boarding, while on the other side teaching spaces and offices are housed in a rectilin ear brick enclosure. It was built by Amec, with Whitbybird as structural engineer, Connell Mott MacDonald as services engineer and Turner & Townsend as quantity surveyor.
