Project will ‘benefit the firm in targeting more health work’, says global account leader
EC Harris has been appointed to project manage the latest phase of the £550m Hamad Medical City in Qatar, one of the world’s largest health projects.
The consultant will manage development of just over half of the mega project - 250,000m2 of the overall 482,200m2 scheme.
Conor Ellis, global account leader at EC Harris, said the consultant had assembled a team of 15 full-time staff on the job and that work on the phase had begun.
EC Harris’ bid for the project pre-dated its merger with Arcadis, but Ellis said the tie-up would benefit the firm in targeting more health work.
Ellis said: “The link-up with Arcadis can only be positive, particularly with the expertise on offer from their US-based health architect RTKL.”
The Qatar win follows EC Harris’ completion of work on the design phase of the 300,000m2 Karolinska mega hospital in Sweden.
