314 homes to be built as part of planned £188m scheme
Wolverhampton City Council has given St Modwen and Persimmon planning permission to build 314 homes on the old Goodyear factory site.
The £50m project is part of a planned £188m development of the 88 acre site. Housebuilding will start in April, with the first phase of homes completed by the end of the year.
The final development will include residential, retail and leisure units. Outline planning permission for the project was granted in 2007.
St. Modwen chief executive Bill Oliver said: “This is a major milestone achieved under our joint venture agreement with Persimmon and underlines our ability to unlock value from the longer term residential assets within our landbank, accelerating the use of our residential land stock and improving profitability.”
