Latest figures come as training body launches expanded apprenticeship matching service, which seeks to find new placements for displaced apprentices
Training body ConstructionSkills has said that more than 2,000 apprentices are currently at risk of being made unemployed before completing their apprenticeship.
The latest figures come as the sector's largest skills body launches its expanded apprenticeship matching service, which seeks to find new work placements for displaced apprentices.
The matching service was established in 2008, but is being widened to cope with the rising numbers of displaced apprentices.
ConstructionSkills is now calling for around 1,000 additional businesses to employment opportunities.
