Orion Land & Leisure and Development Securities scheme granted outline planning permission
A £150m mixed-use redevelopment of Shepherds Bush Market has been granted outline planning permission.
Hammersmith & Fulham council granted outline planning permission for the project by Orion Shepherds Bush Ltd, a joint venture between developers Orion Land & Leisure and Development Securities, which aims to rejuvenate the 98-year-old market in West London.
The scheme includes maximum of 212 residential units in a mix of residential flats and mews style housing, with 14,050 m2 non-residential floorspace to include up to 6000 m2 of retail & market space, 4000 m2 of food and beverage uses along with ancillary floorspace and landscaping and open space.
A rejuvenated Shepherd’s Bush Market will be at the heart of the mixed-use development, the developer said.
Richard Olsen of Orion Shepherds Bush Ltd said: “We’re very pleased to have received a positive outcome from Hammersmith & Fulham Council and we look forward to bringing forward a regenerated and enhanced market, breathing new life into a much loved part of the community.
“We are looking to deliver a new high-quality mixed-use development with the market at the heart. We will build upon the historic legacy of the market and maintain its diversification while at the same time delivering the investment and vast improvements that are needed to increase the footfall and make it a destination in its own right and importantly doing all this without disrupting existing traders, local businesses and the community.”
