A mood of optimism reigns as construction professionals network at the champagne-drenched event

Industry professionals gathered together last night to quaff champagne and munch canapes at the annual HurleyPalmerFlatt cocktail party.

Over 1,000 delegates attended the event, which was held at Drapers' Hall in the City of the London.

Despite the financial gloom, one party goer said this year's event had seen the highest attendance figures in a long time. "It's because of the market situation," he explained. "Now is the time that everyone needs to be networking, so they're all ready to go when the upturn comes."
