A Beijing exhibition centre designed by Bogle Architects and engineered by Arup has been awarded a BREEAM outstanding rating
The dragon-shaped building forms part of the Beijing Green Building Park, overseen by the Building Research Establishment (BRE).
The 4,071m2 building contains education, visitor and exhibition facilities and scored full marks in the energy, water and waste categories of the BREEAM green building test.
Ian Bogle, managing director of Bogle Architects, said: “The building minimises energy use at all times however when it needs to use energy the main source for the building is waste cooking oil with a small amount of solar power used to offset the carbon emissions produced by transporting it.”
