Your report on social landlords' involvement in crime and disorder reduction partnerships (12 September, page 13) does not fully reflect the important work of stock transfer associations across the country.

In London, Orbit Bexley Housing Association reduced street robbery across one area by 85% as a result of a partnership with the local community, council and police. Manchester's Willow Park Housing Trust has been active in a range of local strategic partnerships, single regeneration budget projects and warden schemes, and has integrated these strategies into wider training and employment initiatives.

Transfer associations have delivered on community safety through a range of initiatives and in many respects served as the lead agency in getting tough on crime.
