Giving a boost
Jaga Heating Products has launched the Dynamic Boost Effect heating solution. The DBE units are designed to be mounted onto the heating elements of the company’s range of low water radiators and boost the output by drawing air across the heat exchanger using up to six small modulating fans.
The DBE unit has three operational modes: standby, comfort and boost. In standby, the unit doesn’t operate; in comfort (automatic) mode, if the DBE measures a low room temperature it switches on, boosting the heating capacity to up to 150%; in boost (manual) mode occupants can press a “boost” button, which provides 15 minutes of operation at 250% static capacity.
Jaga claims the DBE can save between 15% and 25% on heating bills.
Laboratory decontamination
The Phoenix Controls Corporation has added a new shut off valve to its Celeris lab control product range. The unit has been designed for use in laboratory spaces that periodically require gaseous decontamination. The shut-off sequence can be initiated through a switch or via the Celeris network by the building management system or with a Phoenix Controls local display unit. This means that facilities staff can quickly and easily stop ventilation to a discrete space when required.

Emco comes to the UK
Ability Projects is now marketing the Emco Therm range of trench heaters in the UK. Three models are available: for natural convection there is the Emco K with outputs from 209 W/m to 436 W/m, while for fan-assisted convection there is the Emco KG, with outputs of 383 W/m to 881 W/m, and the Emco KEL, with outputs from 530 W/m to 1800 W/m.
The natural convection trench units are housed in 106 mm high casings and use two-, four- or six-pipe heat exchanger elements. All units are supplied with either linear or roll-down grilles and are available in lengths between 950 mm and 4840 mm. The KG model has a radial fan at the end of the unit, incorporating an air distribution duct parallel to the convector heat exchange elements. The convector can be operated as a constant or three-speed unit.

Boiler range expanded
Potterton Commercial has expanded its NXR range of pressure jet boilers with the introduction of two NXR2 models. The NXR2H is available in six heating outputs of 22 kW, 27 kW, 35 kW, 42 kW, 55 kW and 69 kW, while the NXR2DHW comes in four outputs of 22 kW, 27 kW, 35 kW and 42 kW for heating with domestic hot water storage of up to 150 litres.
The NXR2 range is claimed to give optimum efficiencies of 93% net. A large combustion chamber – of between 23 and 63 litres – with low pressure losses allows for an optimised, low noise operation.

Make it Easy
The TVR-Easy is the latest volume flow controller from Trox, designed for both variable and constant air volume systems. The unit has been designed for easier installation: it is selected and ordered according to nominal size and after installation the volume flow can be precisely programmed.
The TVR-Easy’s casing air leakage flow rate complies with class A, BS EN 1751 and the range of working differential pressures spans 20 Pa to 1000 Pa.

A VESDA for smaller spaces
Vision Systems has added to its Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus range with the VESDA Laser Focus. Designed for use in smaller mission critical applications up to 250 m2, such as small telecommunications facilities, the aspirating smoke detector incorporates “out of box” operation with Auto Learn Smoke and Auto Learn Flow, which eliminate the need for programming tools and facilitate easier installation. The unit also incorporates the Instant Fault Finder for fast diagnostics and an instant recognition display giving clear information on system status.

Improved splits
The Daiseikai 2 range of split systems has been introduced by Toshiba Air Conditioning. Operating on R410A refrigerant, the range is about 5% more efficient than the previous Daiseikai models. The units, which are available in 2.5 kW, 3.5 kW and 4.5 kW cooling versions, are capable of low ambient cooling to -10°C and operate at sound levels of about 25 dB.
