As part of its global commitment to "quality, innovation and customer care," Enersys has recruited Chris Pretty to the position of Sales Director, Speciality Batteries, Reserve Power (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

With more than 13 years in the small batteries distribution market with Yuasa, he has spent the last two years managing battery distributors across 17 countries in mainland Europe. He will be based in the UK.

l Simon Powell of Servocell, the writer of our access control feature on piezo actuators in this month's edition (see "Quiet revolution”, page 99), has been named as MD of the company. Former business development and technology director, Powell has been in the engineering design industry for 20 years. He wants to lead the company from leading edge research to high volume manufacturing with global sales.
