9:40AM Book published a week after Battersea accident that killed two
Independent research and conference body Ciria has published a new guide covering crane stability. The release comes just over a week after a 165ft crane collapsed onto a block of flats near the Battersea Power Station site, killing two people, the crane driver and a member of public.
‘Tower crane stability’ aims to bring together practical and design issues that affect health and safety as well as present a current understanding of best practice based on industry experience. It also offers a wide range of checklists and legislation guidance
The publication had been slated for release earlier this week but was postponed following the incident.
The book, whose authors include former Laing employees Tim Watson and Bob Dunkley, follows a previous publication called ‘Crane stability on site’.
