The Regulatory Bodies QCA and SQA have approved 12 National Occupational Standards as new NVQ and SVQ Qualifications. Six are at Level 2 and six at Level 3 in the national qualification framework.
Eleven of these new qualificaions will replace previous NVQs and SVQs that have been implemented throughout the glass and related industries. The twelfth qualification is Production of Glass Supporting Fabrications at Level 3. Over 3500 fabricators have registered on the previous qualifications and over 50 per cent have been awarded a Level 2 NVQ or SVQ qualification. It is expected that a proportion of these will wish to prove their competence at the new higher level.
