Following impending changes to fire safety legislation, due to come into force in October under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order (RRO), electrical contractors have been signing up to the ECA's UKAS accredited EN 45011 Fire Alarm System and Emergency Lighting schemes.

Keen to be seen as market leaders within the sector, contractors are taking advantage of the schemes. In the past there were few drivers requiring customers and electrical contractors to participate in such schemes, but the RRO has brought fire safety to the fore as a potential for new business.
