A German architect has filed an application for a new type of cement made of dog poo.

According to online news agency Ananova, Friedrich Lentze, 57, of Berlin, applied for a patent for his “odourless heating and building material” made from excrement from the streets of the German capital every day.

He says it makes a “great mortar with fantastic insulating properties,” and makes economic sense as the raw material has to cleaned from the streets anyway.

Dung has been used for centuries as a building material and he has combined it with modern materials to come up with a new type of insulating cement.

The German patent office confirmed it received the application, but wouldn’t whether it had been approved.A German architect has filed an application for a new type of cement made of dog poo.
