Multidisciplinary-listed firm White Young Green, which employs both project managers and QSs, this week appointed a new boss. Richard McCaffrey, 53, will take up the chief operating officer post, a new position in the firm, with effect from 1 July 2005.

He will report to chief executive John Purvis over the day-to-day management of WYG’s operational business, including its support infrastructure. McCaffrey, who has worked for WYG since 2000, was made managing director of the firm’s northern business unit in October 2002 – it has grown by 50% in the last two and a half years. He garnered 25 years’ experience in the water, environmental and engineering markets before joining the firm from Bullens Consultants in 2000. Chief executive John Purvis said: “Richard’s appointment acknowledges the recent success of the firm and is part of a long-term strategy to broaden the operating base of the business in both our domestic and international markets.”
