Multiplex will team up with ABN AMRO bank to deliver £340m healthcare project.
Progress Health, a consortium backed by ABN AMRO and Multiplex has been named as the preferred bidder for a £340m PFI healthcare project in Peterborough. Spanish firm Ferrovial was also vying for the contract but dropped out of the bid.
Multiplex will provide construction, facilities management and equity for the project, which is the consortium’s first bid in the UK PFI sector. The development is also ABN AMRO’s largest PFI project in the UK to date.
The scheme will be the sixth PFI project undertaken by the collaboration, which ABN AMRO European Infrastructure head Mark Dooley calls ‘a major milestone for the growing alliance with Multiplex in the UK PFI healthcare sector.’
The £340m project, due for completion in 2010, comprises three new buildings and will accommodate 760 beds.
