Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems supplied a range of profiles for over 500 windows and entrances in Priory Mews, a prestigious new development of flats in Southend-on-Sea.
The building design by ATP Architects was strongly influenced by the setting. Priory Park is an important cultural and recreation venue and the design of the facade ensured the building appeared sympathetic to the surrounding parkland.
Design & Creation, a Comar approved fabricator, installed Comar 5 tilt & turn windows, Comar 2 window walling and Comar 7 doors. Comar 5 is a thermally broken window system with extra-slim 50mm sight-lines, available in window configurations such as casement, horizontal and vertical pivot, top-swing and tilt & turn. The tilt & turn option allows the window to be opened in a side hung configuration as well as bottom hung for secure night ventilation. The side hung option is ‘open-in', for easy cleaning. All window profiles were polyester powder coated to standard white RAL 9910.
The main external entrances of Priory Mews consisted of Comar 2 Window Walling, a cost effective alternative to curtain walling. This provided the glazed screens and housed Comar 7 swing doors. The visual unity of the envelope was realised by polyester powder coating Comar 2 and Comar 7 to the same standard white RAL as Comar 5 windows.
