Tom Mullarkey, chief executive of the NSI since 2002, is moving to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) as its chief executive at the end of May.
Formerly an Army officer, at NSI he has been responsible for a successful strategic re-positioning of NSI as an "end-user champion".
Projects have included a major re-branding exercise, the development of NSI as the leading inspection body in the fire detection and alarm systems sector, and a much higher visibility of NSI to all audiences. He has focused on delivering greater levels of confidence in NSI to the insurance industry and lobbied Government on industry regulation, towards a voluntary approach.
He said: "This has been an immensely challenging four years, in which I have enjoyed building on NSI's many strengths. "
