4:50PM Firm to act as lead consultant for £530m modernisation scheme

Mott MacDonald has been appointed lead technical consultant for a planned £530m modernisation of Delhi airport, which is due for completion in time for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The Mott MacDonald aviation team will provide the masterplan, concept and preliminary designs as well as environmental impact management, traffic forecasting and tender assistance under the contract for client GMR-Fraport consortium.

The modernisation of the airport is to include the upgrade of existing terminals, a new parallel runway and taxi-ways and a new terminal. Sub consultants appointed to support Mott MacDonald are architects HOK International and consultants Frischmann Prabhu. Further subcontractors will be appointed as the tender process gets underway with construction work due to start by the end of 2006.
