Action on existing estates is vital if we are to make an impact in carbon dioxide emissions. Here the judges were looking at consultants, contractors and clients involved in a refurbishment project that has demonstrated sustainable outcomes in the reuse of an existing built structure.
Winner: Fujitsu North London Data Centre by Red Engineering
The judges loved the fact that Red Engineering has taken a very functional and utilitarian building and made significant improvements against typical buildings of that type without any significant extra budget. Simply put, it is as good as it possibly could be.
