Wembley Stadium, already mired in controversy looks set to be delayed even further, with electrical and security installation works at the centre of new allegations.

Wembley National Stadium Limited (WNSL) chief executive Michael Cunnah has placed the blame for delays firmly at the feet of Australian contractor Multiplex. However, Multiplex counters, stating that WNSL had not completed works such as the installation of cctv cameras, cabling for communications and mobile cash tills, which would delay it from achieving practical completion of its contractual obligations.

Multiplex says that it has advised WNSL of its entitlement to extensions of time to October 2007 and intention to pursue legal proceedings, due in part to WNSL’s acts and omissions, which are preventing it from achieving practical completion.
